However, I think it would be a good idea to add a third stopwatch. It will measure the time spent between the moment a question appears and the moment you grade it. When you move to another question, it will automatically reset itself and do the same with the new item. [I know that the second stopwatch can be used to do that, but resetting it manually every new question is simply not practical]

When you begin learning process this stopwatch (on the picture) stops and starts repeatedly. It will be nice to have one more stopwatch in this tab to mesure "real time" - this means normal stopwatch under full control of user.

please explain the function of the extra timer. You have two timers: one for your session and one for "real answer time" (even if you leave the computer during Show answer it will stop after 30 seconds or so). Moreover, you can manually start, stop or reset that stopwatch too, so it is under user control too (even though there is not much practical value to changing the measurements manually)

During work with SuperMemo I of course do outstanding material, new material, final drill, but often I make correction, new items, or reformulate my knowledge. So I need stopwatch to measure "real time" not "real answer time". I'm interesting in time I spend during learning (& improve) each branch. So session time gives me nothing (I need to known which branch and which activity consume my time). I need this stopwatch to control time, and all of this for develop sharper knowledge management.

I can always use external stopwatch. But maybe more users have the same "urgent need" :) as I.

more details needed

It is not clear what exactly you want to measure in-between "total time" and "learning time". However, it seems it would be very time consuming to manually mark start-end intervals for those activities. Would it increase you learning efficiency? If you want an approximation of learning+editing time, you can go to Timeline where all such time blocks are displayed and their total lenght for the day is displayed too.

a0) It is not clear what exactly you want to measure in-between "total time" and "learning time".

a1) Mostly I need to measure total time for every of five branches.

b0) However, it seems it would be very time consuming...

b1) Yes it is time consuming process, but not very time consuming.

c0) Would it increase you learning efficiency?

c1) No, not increase, it is only for measurement. But you can't manage something you can't measure. For example sometimes I want to compare one branch witch another or traditional French learning with suprememo French learning.

Maybe picture explain something

suggestion 4 (new)

Actually, I have an idea concerning the Supermemo stopwatches. As I understand the way they work, the first one (on the left) can be used as an alarm clock, while the second one (on the right) measures the entire time spent on working with SM.

Rationale: This way, the learner would know how much time they spent on answering a single question. I read in the FAQ, that questions that we can't answer during 30 seconds are likely to be ill-formulated. Consequently, this third stopwatch would have a positive effect on the learning process as it would warn the learner that certain items might need reformulating.

Alternatively, the second stopwatch could be provided with an option of automatic resetting.
