Is there any malfunctioning of Advanced English that may result from its updating by SuperMemo 2008?

After I have done the update quite many sounds do not correspond to the element (e.g. the phrase in the element is not what is spoken by the computer), some elements lost the sounds and some elements produce and error message and the Supermemo wholly stacks till this element is deleted (i.e. you can not go to any other element until you delete the one producing the error).

* AE97 works with SuperMemo 8, and there have been many generations of SuperMemo since. It is possible that there is a bug that shows in a one-step upgrade. You could therefore try to first upgrade to SuperMemo 98 (freeware), and only then upgrade to SuperMemo 2008. The possible bug has not been reported as the upgrade gap is 13 years and few people still use the old version of the program and/or advanced english
* mixedup sounds could come from a few changes in handling sounds on CDs that could show only in this one-step upgrade
* some items in AE97 may "look like" mixed up because some items had been plugged with "illustrative" sounds (the set of sounds was not complete to add to all items)

I use SuperMemo 2008 for Windows. I have a French database (formerly sold as Parlez avec Nous and developed with SuperMemo 98) which properly displays French fonts. Once I transfer some of the elements ('''Export : Transfer elements''' from the contents window's context menu) between two collections (i.e. Parlez avec Nous -> my master collection), the French fonts get garbled

For example: the correct sentence:

''Oh, je ne lis ni les magazines ni les revues d'actualité politique. Tout ce qu'il y a là-dedans, c'est trop compliqué et ennuyeux pour moi.''

gets changed into-

Going through to the menu that lets you go to '''Learning : Review all''' just ends up doing nothing. Occasionally the cursor will spin as though it's thinking. Nothing happens. All other attempts to "Learn" just tell me I don't have anything left to learn. But that's not at point - I want "Review All" to work.

== Answer ==

One important aspect of the '''Review All''' option is that it will skip the elements that have already been reviewed on a particular day. So if you created a number of extracts and cloze deletions you will not be able to review them again on the same day.
